Abstract : Two pilot Ultra-High Performance Fiber Reinforced Concrete (UHPFRC) bridges in China constructed recently are introduced in this paper. They are the first highway girder bridge and the first pedestrian arch bridge. The first highway UHPFRC girder bridge is an overpass bridge with a total length of 127m, located in Heibei Province, crossing over the express highway from Shijiazhuang to Cixian. The span arrangement is 4×30m. Three precast box girders in a span were connected by longitudinal cast-in-situ concrete joints to form an 8 wide deck structure in a span, and girders of adjacent spans in piers were jointed together by cast-in-situ concrete and prestressings to form a four span continued superstructure. The first pedestrian UHPFRC arch bridge is located in Fuzhou University Campus, with a span of 10m. The main structure is a solid slab arch ring with a depth of only 10cm. The bridge was constructed by cast-in-situ method with ceilings. The design and construction of these two bridges are presented in this paper.
