Abstract : In India, many age old infrastructural systems are still being widely used even after completion of their design life. However, the health monitoring and subsequent required intervention have not been properly documented for assessment and updating. Numerical study of the structural behaviour under different loading condition of a century old steel overhead tank have been presented in this paper. There is a paradigm shift in the design philosophy and material properties during this long period. In addition, operational wear & tear, environmental effect and few modifications may have changed the structural behaviour to an extent. Thus, the numerical study seems to be very significant for its safety and prior to adopting measure for its global retrofit. The structure is modelled in SAP 2000 V14 platform with existing condition with few variations to understand its performance.
