Abstract : Repair of concrete structure mainly involves removal of unsound and damaged concrete and replacement of it with repair or overlay materials. One of the key requirements for any kind of repair system is to have adequate bond strength between the existing concrete substrate and overlay throughout the service life. It is very important to ensure that repair material and original concrete acts in unison. When a repair is performed, the differences in the properties of two materials will affect bond strength and stress distribution. Particular relevance is the differences in shrinkage, elastic modulus and thermal movement. Various parameters are defined to ensure performance quality of overlaying repair materials. Pull off bond strength between two different materials is very critical parameter for performance of overlaying repair materials. In the present study, pull off interface bond strength between repair material and concrete substrate with different roughness and three different positions of substrate surface is measured. Results are promising and more in depth research work is necessary in future for better understanding the behavior of interface between repair material and substrate concrete.
