Abstract :  For prediction of service life for structure where chloride ingress is critical, chloride diffusion co-efficient has to be worked out. Blended cements are preferred owing to their higher resistance to chloride penetration. However chloride diffusion test by immersion or ponding takes a larger time and engineers generally prefer accelerated test like rapid chloride ion penetration test (RCPT) and newer tests like NT build 492. Tests were conducted using Portland Pozzolana cement (PPC) conforming to IS: 1489 with different water cement ratio ranging from 0.36 to 0.6 and correlations plotted to ascertain applicapability of RCP & NT build tests to assess chloride diffusion co-efficient. Co- efficient of chloride diffusion (Cd) tests were conducted using immersion method as per ISO 1920 (Part 11). Correlation curves were drawn for water cement ratio Vs Cd, water cement ratio Vs RCPT, water cement ratio Vs Cd(NT) and also Cd Vs RCPT, Cd(NT) Vs RCPT & Cd(NT) Vs Cd. In addition air permeability and electrical resistivity tests were also conducted for quick assessment of permeability and results of the same are also given in the paper for different water cement ratio using PPC.
