Abstract : Concrete is a poor thermal conductor and non-combustible material but suffers considerable damage when exposed to fire due to its heterogeneous nature. The mechanical properties such as strength, modulus of elasticity and volume stability of concrete are significantly reduced during fire exposure. The behaviour of structural concrete in fire mainly depends on its mix proportions, ingredients, loading conditions, heating regime and duration and is determined by complex physico-chemical transformation during heating.
