Abstract : Reinforcement corrosion is one of the most common causes of premature degradation in structural performance of reinforced concrete (RC) structures. Production of voluminous rust due to corrosion of reinforcement steel cause expansion and induces tensile stresses in concrete. Induced tensile stresses cause cracking in the surrounding concrete; with time these corrosion induced cracks propagate to the surface of the cover concrete.
