Abstract : In the ever increasing need of infrastructure and the slow progress of the key projects, more and more focus is required to repair and strengthen the available infrastructure and increasing the durability of the same. Recent developments related to materials, methods and techniques for structural strengthening have been enormous. One of today’s most promising techniques is the use of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites know as externally bonded FRP reinforcement (EBR), which are currently viewed by structural engineers as “new” and durable materials in the construction industry. In case studies of the strengthening of infrastructure projects evidence is given to the problems involved and practical solutions are presented for strengthening the same with minimum disruption to the existing structures
