Abstract : Indoor air quality (IAQ) is very important and an almost un-touched area for naturally ventilated apartments. Good indoor air quality is essential for healthy environments and it is found that naturally ventilated apartments have better and healthy indoor air quality when compared to air conditioned space. In this context, current developments in computer applications such as CradlescSTREAM Version 9 (CS-V9), and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation software, have led to impressive results in the fields of ventilation efficiency simulation and prediction of its parameters like age of air and residual lifetime of air. Two different residential apartments, one with a large central cut-out and other without a cut-out, located at hot-humid climate of Chennai are simulated for ventilation efficiency and it is observed that rooms which have better air movement have less air age index.
